Book Review - Bear Snores On
I am delighted to have a new favorite author to add to my collection of great children's book writers. I went to the library with my children last week and my 8 year old found me some treasures. It is not too easy to search the shelves for those precious nuggets when you have a 2 year old that wants to pull every book off the shelf to take home with her, but thank God I have helpers.

I didn't even realize that we had found any great books until yesterday. When I take my six children to the library we are always in a hurry. I just do the scan and grab. I look at the book's cover art and title and either take it or leave it. When we get home it is like a huge reading party. All of my children, from 13 years old down to my 5 year old read all the books on their own and tell me if they are cute or not. It often looks like a book tornado has passed through. They have books scattered everywhere while they sit on the floor and read.
The children will then report back to me which books I have to read to my 2 year old and which ones to avoid. They will often say, "Mommy, don't waste your time on that book. It is lousy." This is s tremendous help as I feel life is too busy and too short to read lousy books.
That brings me to my new find. As my 2 year old was eating breakfast she asked me to read her stories. I grabbed the three books by Karma Wilson that my daughter found for me. I was so pleasantly surprised and liked the books immediately. First of all, the books are written in rhyme, which I love. The books have beautiful illustrations and they repeat the title phrase often throughout the story. These all make for a fun read aloud. If you are looking for a new children's book author to check out, I highly recommend Karma Wilson. I am including a picture of the book cover and one of the illustrations.

The story Bear Snores On is about a hibernating bear who's den becomes the center of a gathering of friends. While they are frolicking and having a grand time the bear snores on. What will happen when he awakes? This is a great book for all children.
