The Ultimate Gift You Can Give Your Baby
If there is one gift that you should give to your child, it is the love of reading. It doesn't matter if you teach your baby to read. What matters is if your child loves to read and be read to. It makes no difference if you have a baby that can read at an early age if they have no love for the written word.
Children that are read to share a special bond with their parents. It is much more interactive to read a book together than to watch a movie together. And then the books you read carry over into your lives as you pretend you are the characters from the books you read or you quote a line or two from a favorite story.
I wish all parents would give their children the love of books and the love of reading. Children are never too old to be read to either. My 14 year old loves to hear a story as much as my 2 year old. It is such a magical feeling to get lost in a story. So I ask you now in closing, "Have you read to your child today?"
