Great Books to Read to Children
I have some more great books to share with you. I don't know about you, but I have noticed that some of the best children's books ever written were published before 1970. A few that I am mentioning were published in 1928 and 1938.

Apples to Oregon
This book is a great read. It is rated 5 stars on Amazon.com. It is a tall tale about how a brave pioneer father brought fruit trees across the plains. It gives you the opportunity to discuss the founding of this nation as well as what could happen as opposed to what is definitely fanciful. I really enjoyed reading this book.

This book was published in 1928 but it is just as cute of a story now as it was then. This book seems to be a timeless classic about a couple who decide to get a cat. When the husband goes in search of a cat he finds out that he likes them all. He returns with hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats. When they realize they can't keep them all, they let the cats decide who should be their pet. Millions of Cats is rated 4 stars on Amazon.com. I really enjoyed this story.

The Five Chinese Brothers
The Five Chinese Brothers is a great book to teach your child about tall tales and unfair treatment. This simple story is about how one brother is unfairly convicted of a crime and what results when they try to put him to death. This another oldie but goodie. This book was rated 4 stars on Amazon.com.
The Cabbage Soup Solution
This book is rated 4.5 stars on Amazon.com. It is a cute story about a woman who grows cabbages. She is suddenly faced with something that is destroying her plants. This is a cute story of how difficult situations can actually turn around for the better.
The Tawny Scrawny Lion
This is actually one of my favorite books ever. I love that it has some repetition as it refers to the tawny scrawny terrible lion who never could get enough to eat. This adorable story is about a lion who is always hungry. The animals are afraid of him and appoint a rabbit to talk things over with the lion. The rabbit goes willingly to talk to the lion only to find he is much to scrawny to talk to. Instead he invites the lion to have a meal with is fat rabbit family. Although the lion is hoping to eat the rabbit family, he is surprised to discover that he actually prefers to eat carrot stew after all. This book is rated 4 stars on Amazon.com.
