Teach Your Baby New Vocabulary With Fancy Nancy

You may have already had the chance to read some of the ever popular Fancy Nancy books that are available.  I have seen them in the book store and not paid them much attention.  However, I had the chance to read a few while at the bookstore and a few pages into the story I knew that I loved them.  First of all, the main character, Nancy, loves bling.  She is a fancy girl all the way and if you have a daughter that likes princesses and dress up these books will certainly be a hit with them, however this is not what I loved about them.

A few pages into the first story I came across a common element in all of the books.  The introduction to new vocabulary in an adorable and fancy way.  The author has Nancy use a big word, such as delectable, and then goes on to say that delectable is fancy for something that tastes great.  I think that is just brilliant.  I love to teach my kids new vocabulary all the time and I really enjoyed the way we learned the meaning of all these fancy words.

The Fancy Nancy collection is pretty large and if you haven't had the chance to read them yet, I suggest you check a few out.  They are great for introducing fancy new words to our aspiring little princesses.

If you want to expose your baby to new vocabulary check out the Monki See DVDS.  They are full of language and poetry and will definitely expose your baby to new words.
