Teach Baby to Read - How to Make Your Own Reading Books

One of the most enjoyable ways to teach your baby to read is with homemade, personalized books.  They are so fun to make and so much fun to read with your baby.  Once you assemble your materials you can put together a book in less than 30 minutes.  These personalized books will quickly become your babies favorite books to read, making them worth the effort it took to create them.  They are also pretty durable.  I have been making books to teach my baby to read for a long time now.  These books are one of my favorite ways to teach my baby to read.

Materials Needed

30 or 40 clear plastic sheet protectors
30 or 40 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 white copy paper
soft 3 prong folder
black marker
pictures or photos
tape

You can make a personalized book for your baby.  Here is an example of what you can do.

Page 2 - Place a picture of your child on this page.
Page 3 - I am one year old.
Page 4 - Show a picture of your child holding up 1 finger or you can show the number 1.

This is just a sample meant to give you some ideas.  It is really easy to put a book together if you have some photos available.  You can readily write your book around your pictures.

The soft folders can hold up to 40 pages.  The pages will stick out of the folder a little, but it is very durable and easy to flip through.

Here are some sample of reading books I made.  These are not personalized.  I just made pages around pictures that I liked.
