Hesitant to have baby under 2 years old watch TV to learn to read?

A Parent's Concern

My husband saw a commercial for Your Baby Can Read and wanted to order it for our 9 month-old son. I was against it because I don't think he should watch TV, particularly since he is under two years old. Then my husband did some research online and found out about MonkiSee and wanted to try that instead. I read about comparisons and reviews of it on some mommy blogs and I had heard it mentioned by someone in a moms group somewhere (can't remember where though!) and so I agreed to give it a try. Our son loves being read to and will happily sit for nearly an hour reading story after story, so I am hopeful that the MonkiSee Reading Program will complement that.

MonkiSee's Answer

It sounds like you have a very smart little boy.  Reading is such a wonderful activity to involve him in.  It is one of the best builders of intelligence, vocabulary and imagination.  Definitely keep that up.

If you are not very pro television for your under 2 year old, you can utilize the MonkiSee Flash Cards to realize some wonderful results. There is a lot of emphasis these days on DVDs for teaching babies to read, however parents should not overlook how fast and easy flash card learning is.  A session requires around 30 seconds, 3 times per day. Not bad, huh?  In a minute and a half you can teach your baby to read.

The MonkiSee books included in the Baby Reading Kit separate the text from the words so all you have to do is point to the words as you read them and your little guy will learn to read while being read to.

Parents are astonished to see how effortlessly their babies learn when they spend a little time stimulating their language skills.  They will easily learn language and how to read during their first 5 years.  After that, it becomes more of a struggle.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
