Stories and Art

I came across a really neat website the other day that takes stories for children and combines an art project with the story.  I thought this would be a lot of fun for my 4 year old, but when we do projects here all my kids want to join in regardless of how elementary it seems.  We happened to have a copy of Eric Carle's A House For Hermit Crab.  We read the story and then did the art project we found here.

Here are some pictures of my 4, 6 and 9 year old all getting involved in creating a new house for hermit crab.  You can print the templates here and here.  They really enjoyed this and have been asking to do more crafts.  I plan to visit the stART website again and again to get some more ideas.

Just another way to make reading a fun and enjoyable experience for little ones.
