The Rhyming Dust Bunnies Book

I am not quite sure how we came across this book, Rhyming Dust Bunnies, or the author, Jan Thomas, but we absolutely love her work.  The illustrations are bright, bold and very attractive and the stories are simple, cute and funny.  Even my older children enjoy these books.  I love that the dust bunnies love to rhyme.  The words are pretty large and stand out on the page so they are great for new readers, especially the younger children.

You can encourage your child to rhyme as well once you have read the story.  You can come up with other words that rhyme with Ed, Ted and Ned and words that rhyme with Bob.  This is a great way to introduce word families and rhyming words to children in a fun and engaging manner.

We also love The Big, Mean Dust Bunny by Jan Thomas.  As a matter of fact, we are enjoying these books so much that my 4 year old asked me to print her a coloring page of the big, mean dust bunny.  A moment of searching revealed that there are no coloring pages.  At least we could not find any.  This prompted my 15 year old to create a set of coloring pages for my 4 year old.  I am sharing them here.

The other thing we love about these books by Jan Thomas is that they are very easy to read and encourage young children to read them on their own.  Anytime my 4 year old tells me she will read to me I am thrilled. These books do just that.

Here are some coloring pages of these adorable characters.  EdTedNed, and Bob.  The big, mean dust bunny.

And finally, here is a picture of my 6 year old and his big, mean dust bunny.  He drew it, colored it and cut it out on his own.  This was his idea.
