Signing with Your Baby

Baby sign language has become pretty big in recent years.  Parents and care givers have realized that babies can communicate much earlier than we believed they could.  Many parents have jumped on board and are teaching their babies sign language.  It is a great idea and it is lots of fun.

You can take your sign language to another level by teaching your baby to read while learning sign.  This is an ideal way to learn some signs and works with babies as young as 3 months old.  If you are teaching your baby a new sign, show your baby the written word, using flash cards or paper, and then sign the word.  Your baby will be hearing the word, seeing the word, and signing the word.  Talk about making a bunch of brain connections!  Including this little step can advance your baby’s ability to read and helps increase their I.Q.
